As the school year gets into gear, Central Market will be spending the next two weeks cracking open more than just books!  Their annual celebration is a masters class in craft beer, brewing, pairing, and of course tasting. It’s called Brewniversity, and it’s in its final weekend at Central Market. Before September 24, you have the chance to choose from over 300 different beers, from IPA to ESB, and try centuries-old favorites from around the world and exciting new craft brews from just around the corner. It’s an opportunity for brewers from Texas and around the world to educate their fans (and future fans) about the beers they are creating.

“We’re in a small town with one stoplight. This is a great opportunity to bring the brewery out to people who might not have a chance to get to Blanco,” says Erik Ogershock, Brewmaster at Real Ale Brewing company. “As the brewmaster, it’s important to get out and talk to people and give them an idea of what it is we do – what Real Ale’s really like.”

Brewniversity is your chance to meet more than three dozen master brewers. Along with Erik will be Garrett Oliver from Brooklyn Brewery, Ron Extract from Jester King, or Phil Leinhart from Ommegang, just to name a few. Pick their brains and discover all the delicious secrets of your most beloved beers in our beer and wine department. There are nearly 150 tastings scheduled – check out the store event calendars for the most up-to-date details.

“There’s so much to learn about craft beers – it’s not just the rebirth of some traditional beer styles, but also – especially here in the US – it’s about experimenting and doing a new spin on tradition as well, like doing different things with barrel aging and using non-traditionational ingredients in traditional-style beers,” Eric mentions. “The only limitation to a craft brewer is going to be their own creativity. For us, this will be a good opportunity for us to introduce people to the different styles of beer we brew, and the quality we brew them at.”

If you are ready to really take your beer knowledge  to the next level, then may we suggest some of the amazing cooking school classes and beer dinners they have scheduled:

Alaskan Brews and Seafood – Learn about the traditions, styles and process of making Alaskan Brewing Co sought after beers, as our cooking school staff will show you how to make flavorful seafood dishes that highlight the best from Alaskan waters. PlanoFort WorthAustin North LamarDallas LoversSan Antonio

And if all that hasn’t convinced you to stop in and up your beer GPA, there’s also this: Central Market will be having a beer sale the full two weeks of Brewniversity of 20% off all beer purchases of $25 or more. Learn about the beer, and save money when drinking it. Only at Central Market’s Brewniversity.
